Crews to look out for

The club coastal championships will, for the first time, be open to clubs outside of Europe. This has allowed rowers like Christopher Bak of the USA to enter in the Men’s Solo and Double. Bak is last year’s World Coastal Champion in the CM1x. He will face tough competition from the likes of Simone Martini (Italy) and the young Halil Kaan Koroglu (Turkiye). On the women’s side, Jessica Berra of France seems to be the favourite, but doesn’t have an easy task in front of her. Other strong scullers such as Sophie Souwer of Italy and Audrianna Boersen (USA) will also be looking for the podium.

On the beach sprint side, neither of the defending champions or last year’s silver medallists in the solo are present. Bronze medallists from 2024, Lithuania’s Zygimantas Galisanskas and the Netherlands’ Janneke van der Meulen therefore go into the event with their eyes on the top of the podium. However, on the women’s side, the reigning World Champion – Magdalena Lobnig of Austria – will be present. Lobnig made the switch to full time coastal rowing after the Paris Olympic Games last year, and looks to be the one to beat.
