This upcoming weekend, it’s all go on the Po River for the 34th edition of the SilverSkiff in Turin, Italy.

One of the most important events on the head racing calendar, the SilverSkiff has attracted over 700 entries with a further 200-plus in the KinderSkiff and Vintage SilverSkiff.

The city stretch of the Po River will be filled with sculls, from masters to Olympic and world champions, competing in singles sculls over a 11 km timed race from Cannottieri Cerea to Moncalieri’s little island and back. Racing will start on Saturday 8 November at 12 pm with the KinderSkiff race for children and teenagers, alongside the 5th edition of the Vintage SilverSkiff, featuring historic boats built before 1992.

On Sunday 9 November starting at 9 am, the main SilverSkiff will be raced with the world’s top rowers competing alongside many passionate enthusiasts. Star attraction, Martin Sinković, the Croatian Olympic Champion who holds the most Silverskiff victories alongside his brother Valent, will compete. A major showdown is expected between Martin and Gabriel Soares, Italy’s Paris Olympic medallist. Soares reached the podium two years ago and is now aiming to beat his own record on the Po River course.

Also racing is the two-time Olympic medallist and World Champion, Roos de Jong from the Netherlands along with her World Championship doubles’ partner, Benthe Boonstra. There’s also Lauren Henry from Great Britain who has spent the 2025 season in the single and finished second in the single at the 2025 World Rowing Championships. Henry moved to the single after winning Olympic gold in the quad at the Paris Olympics.

Participating athletes come from 20 countries making for no shortage of competition. A large contingent is coming from the United States and Great Britain with the furthest travellers coming in from Australia.
