World Rowing acknowledges the decision taken by the International Olympic Committee regarding its recently adopted Policy on the Protection of the Female (Women’s) Category in Olympic Sport.

World Rowing is carefully reviewing the policy and its implications for rowing, in close consultation with relevant internal and external experts. This work is ongoing and aims to ensure that any necessary measures are evidence‑based, athlete‑centred, and consistent with World Rowing’s regulatory framework, values and operational needs.

World Rowing will take appropriate action in due course, in alignment with the IOC policy and in a manner that best serves the integrity, fairness, and development of the sport. No changes made to the eligibility rules or requirements for World Rowing events regarding Rule 13 (Men’s and Women’s Events) and related Bye-Laws will be implemented before 1 January 2027.

We will keep our stakeholders informed as this process progresses.
