Artistic Contribution of the Year Award

The “Artistic Contribution of the Year” award has been launched in 2024 to underscore World Rowing’s commitment to expanding the definition of excellence in international Rowing highlighting the crucial role that arts & culture pay in developing our sport. By acknowledging the achievements of these artistic works, World Rowing does not only honor their contributions but also encourage a higher standard of cultural contribution and innovation across the global Rowing landscape.

To be eligible for the “Artistic Contribution of the Year” Award, nominees are recommended to meet the following criteria:

  • The piece of art must be created during the calendar year of the Award period.
  • The submitter of the piece of art must have the full legal & Intellectual Property rights to submit the work of art
  • The work of art must fall into one of the following categories:
    – Visual Art (Paintings, Drawings, Photographers, Digital Art, etc.)
    – Performance Art (: Music, Podcasts, Acting, etc.)
    – Audiovisual Art (Moving Images, Mixed Media Art, Digital, etc.)
    – Crafts & Decorative Art (Ceramics, Glass Art, Textiles, Metalworking, etc.)

How do you make a nomination?

The “Artistic Contribution of the Year” can be nominated by an individual or organisation. The nomination will be made through an online form on the World Rowing website.

Who will judge the nominations?

​The first stage is a public nomination, which the Artistic Contribution of the Year Award Panel will select the finalists and recommend a winner, where thereafter the Executive Committee will make the final decision.

When will the award be presented?

The ultimate recipient of the Artistic Contribution of the Year Award will unveiled during the World Rowing Awards, spotlighting their achievements in 2024.
