Rowing Destination of the Year Award

The “Rowing Destination of the Year” award has been launched in 2024 to recognize impactful Rowing destinations worldwide, that offer exemplary Rowing conditions, actively promote and support the sport through events, community engagement, and cultural integration.

To be eligible for the “Rowing Destination of the Year” Award, destinations are recommended to meet the following criteria:
• Rowing Facilities and Environment: Should satisfy standards for Rowing facilities and favorable natural conditions for Rowing (Classic Rowing and/or Coastal Rowing).
• Event Hosting: Must have a track record of successfully organizing quality events and competitions.
• Community Engagement: Demonstrated commitment to promoting Rowing within the local community and beyond.
• Tourism and Accessibility: Ability to attract and accommodate visitors, enhancing their experience of the Rowing destination and events.
• Promotion of the Sport of Rowing: Commitment to advance the sport of Rowing by attending the WR Awards Ceremony in person (with at least two delegates) and supplying both moving and still images to WR to promote the WR Awards and the Rowing Destination of the Year category.

How do you make a nomination?

The “Rowing Destination” can be nominated by its own members or another individual or organisation. The nomination will be made through an online form on the World Rowing website.

Who will judge the nominations?

​The first stage is a public nomination, which the Rowing Destination of The Year Award Panel will select the finalists and recommend a winner, where thereafter the Executive Committee will make the final decision.

When will the award be presented?

The ultimate recipient of the Rowing Destination Award will unveiled during the World Rowing Awards, spotlighting their achievements in 2024.
