2021 World Rowing Junior Championships

EVENT DESCRIPTION

The World Rowing Junior Championships is held annually for rowers 18 years of age or younger. It consists of 14 boat classes which are raced over five days using the progression system of heats through to finals. In an Olympic year the World Rowing Junior Championships is combined with the World Rowing Championships.

The following events are offered at the 2021 World Rowing Junior Championships:

Junior Men (JM): 1x, 2x, 2-, 4-, 4x, 4+, 8+

Junior Women (JW): 1x, 2x, 2-, 4-, 4x, 4+, 8+

ELIGIBILITY

World Rowing Championships are open to all member federations. A rower may compete in a Junior rowing event until 31st of December of the year in which he reaches the age of 18.

 

ABOUT THE VENUE

The regatta course Plovdiv is an artificial canal with total length of 2300m, that was specially designed by the architect Valentine Marinov with chief consultant Svetla Otzetova to meet the contemporary requirements for staging major water sport events. The location of the course was estimated very precisely to be surrounded by the natural forests, offering fair and equal conditions in all lanes. In addition to that the direction of the course is East / West, which is parallel to the direction of the prevailing winds.
