EVENT DESCRIPTION
In 2008, the European Rowing Junior Championships were introduced. The age category was renamed from Junior to Under 19 at the end of 2020, and came into effect at the end of 2021. The European Rowing Under 19 Championships will take place at the beautiful Lago di Varese Regatta Venue in Northern Italy.
EVENTS OFFERED
The following events are offered at the 2021 European Rowing Under 19 Championships :
Men (JM): 1x, 2-, 2x, 4-, 4x, 4+, 8+
Women (JW): 1x, 2-, 2x, 4-, 4x, 4+, 8+
ELIGIBILITY
All European Member National Federations plus Israel shall be eligible to compete in the European Rowing Under 19 Championships. A rower may compete in an Under 19 rowing event until 31st December of the year in which he or she reaches the age of 18.

ABOUT THE VENUE
Varese is located in the Northern part of Italy, 55km north of Milan. The town lies at the foot of the Campo dei Fiori mountain range overlooking Lake Varese. It has a population of approximately 80,000.
Lake Varese is 8.8 km long and 4.5 km wide.
It has hosted the Coupe de la Jeunesse in 2007, 2012 European Rowing Championships and 2013 World Rowing Masters Regatta, the 2014 World Rowing Under 23 Championships, the 2015 World Rowing Cup II and the 2016 World Rowing Cup I. In 2021, Varese hosted the European Olympic and Paralympic Qualification Regatta and the European Rowing Championships.
Lake Varese has been part of Natura 2000. This is the European Union’s large system of protected areas, which safeguard rare or endangered species and habitats.
