EVENT DESCRIPTION

The top event of the year for Under 19 rowers in the ‘Classic Discipline’ is the World Rowing Under 19 Championships (WRU19CH). The 2026 World Rowing Under 19 Championships will take in Plovdiv, Bulgaria.

The 2026 event programmes will be published in January 2026. Please see below the key event dates and times:

- Official opening of the venue: Monday, 3 August
- Team Manager Meeting & Draw: Wednesday, 5 August, 15:00 hrs
- First race: Thursday, 6 August, morning
- Start of the last race: Sunday, 9 August, no later than 15:00 hrs

Under 19 Men (JM): 1x, 2x, 2-, 4-, 4x, 8+

Under 19 Women (JW): 1x, 2x, 2-, 4-, 4x, 8+

2026 WRU19CH Bulletin

ELIGIBILITY

World Rowing Championships are open to all Member Federations. A rower may compete in an Under 19 event until 31^stof December of the year in which they reach the age of 18. Athletes must be eligible under the relevant rules. To represent a country in a World Rowing Championship, a competitor shall be a citizen of that country. He or she must be able to prove this by showing an official document (passport or identity card). In exceptional cases, the Executive Committee may make exceptions. Rowers may only compete at the World Rowing Championships if they have submitted a signed commitment form, according to Rule 17. Each team official must have submitted a signed commitment form to World Rowing before accreditation may be issued at a World Rowing event.

ABOUT THE VENUE

The regatta course in Plovdiv is an artificial canal with total length of 2300m, that was specially designed by the architect Valentine Marinov with chief consultant Svetla Otzetova to meet the contemporary requirements for staging major water sport events. The location of the course was estimated very precisely to be surrounded by the natural forests, offering fair and equal conditions in all lanes. In addition to that the direction of the course is East/West, which is parallel to the direction of the prevailing winds.
