Paralympic Games
The Paralympic Games is held every four years and includes para rowing. Para rowing was introduced into the Paralympic programme in 2005 and at the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games it was held for the first time. Qualification regattas are held to select the quota of 104 athletes that will compete at the Games. There are five boat classes: PR1 men’s single sculls, PR1 women’s single sculls, PR2 mixed double sculls, PR3 mixed double sculls and PR3 mixed coxed four. Races are held over 2,000 metres for all five events.
