Being a student and a rower helps shape and influence the lives of young academics. Rowing at university comes at an important stage in life, often a time of exploration, of new experiences and of learning. Rowing at university varies throughout the world with the United States leading the way in number of rowing student athletes and recruiting rowers from around the world. A number of these athletes continue on to national team rowing.
