2019 European Rowing Championships attributed to Lucerne

Presentations were made by the upcoming organisers of European events; the 2017 European Rowing Championships in Racice, Czech Republic, the 2017 European Rowing Junior Championships in Krefeld, Germany, the 2017 European Rowing Under 23 Championships in Kruszwica, Poland as well as the 2018 European Rowing Championships in Strathclyde, Great Britain.

Other event attributions included the 2018 European Rowing Junior Championships to Gravelines, France and the 2018 European Rowing Under 23 Championships to Brest, Belarus.

A request was made by the 2018 European Sports Championships Management organization on behalf of the European Broadcasting Union to offer two days of finals at the 2018 European Rowing Championships in order to better maximize the television impact of the event. This would mean that the 2018 European Rowing Championships would be held over four days instead of three. This was unanimously accepted by the delegates at the General Assembly.

Ryszard Stadniuk of Poland was re-elected by acclamation to another four year term on the European Rowing Management Board and will continue as its Chair.

In a lengthy debate, the delegates voted to add a women’s four and a lightweight women’s pair to the programme of the 2017 European Rowing Championships as a show of solidarity and progress towards a gender balanced racing programme. This vote will be submitted as a permanent change to the racing programme to the European Rowing Extraordinary General Assembly in 2017 immediately following the 2017 FISA Extraordinary Congress in Tokyo from 9 to 12 February 2017. Any change will require a two-thirds majority vote. The date of the European Extraordinary Congress will announced shortly.
