Sustainable Sourcing
We manage resources responsibly and sustainably and reduce waste in all its forms to contribute to SDG:

Today’s society does not always use the planet’s natural resources responsibly. These worrying developments in consumption and production processes risk to lead to the destruction of our planet by endangering the systems on which our very survival depends.
World Rowing commits to move away from a “throw away” culture, reducing unnecessary waste by considering all items we consume in terms of their lifespan and disposal or recycling options.
It will include minimum sustainability requirements in all World Rowing event supplier contracts, covering both environmental and workforce aspects and collaborate with equipment manufacturers to reduce the environmental impact of equipment manufacture and disposal.
World Rowing’s actions to consume responsibility include
- Reviewing current practices habits to propose changes and improvements
- Reviewing World Rowing contracts and contracting process to include responsible sourcing standards including for meetings and conferences.
- Developing a set of criteria to introduce a “Green Supplier” designation for World Rowing Official Suppliers based on production processes, supply chains etc
- Establishing a project with the equipment manufacturers to study the impact of rowing equipment manufacture (boats, oars, components) and to find ways to reduce its environmental impact.
