Communications and Electronics Technology use at World Rowing Events

Please ensure that the electronic devices meet the Rules as outlined in Appendix R2 Bye-Laws to Rule 28 (Section 5). Crews with devices not meeting the requirements of the rules of racing will be penalized. For latest rules click here.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

1. Q: Can I receive recommendations from the coach or computer application (AI) during the racing or when traffic rules are enforced? A: No. During racing, no communication with the crew is permitted from outside the boat using electric or electronic equipment, including audio transmission, text messages, and software communication of any kind.

2. Q: Do I need to register a new or updated GPS device? A: The registration of a new or updated GPS device is no longer required.

3. Q: Is an electronic device included in the minimum boat weight? A: No, electronic devices are not included in the minimum boat weight, as they are not considered essential for its use, as defined in Appendix R3 By-Laws to Rule 30.
