Officials and members of the general public have been invited tonight by the Lucerne Regatta Association (Luzerner Regattaverein) to the prestigious Lucerne Casino to take part in a jubilee general assembly followed by drinks and a dinner to commemorate the 100th anniversary of it’s foundation.
This year marks the 100 years of activities by the Luzerner Regattaverein, organiser of the Lucerne International Regatta, and the Rowing World Cup which has consistently seen one of its stages held in Lucerne for several years.
In addition to the culinary delights and the stimulating speeches a special show highlighting the 100 years of the association will be presented by Hanns Fuchs PR person for the Luzern Regattaverein. Fuchs has spent the past few weeks going throught the archives and has uncovered and put together many facts and souvenirs from the 100 year-old history of the Regattaverein
The Luzerner Regattaverein, famous for it’s prestigious regattas held on Rotsee in Lucerne which was recently quoted as being one of two best rowing spots in the world by the US rowing magazine ?Rowing News?, has organised many internationally followed regattas. It was the organiser of the 2001 FISA World Rowing Championships, and has hosted several Rowing World Cups including in 2002 and the upcoming 2003 World Cup final in July.
The Rotsee also prides itself with 3 current world best times which were established in the lightweight women’s single, the women’s eight and the lightweight men’s coxless four and which have remained unequalled since 1999.
