The Malta Regatta course in Poznan, Poland has been selected to host the 2007 European Rowing Championships on the weekend of 22-23 September 2007. The decision was made by FISA’s European member National Rowing Federations yesterday which was attended by delegates from 31 European National Rowing Federations in Eton, Great Britain, following the conclusion of the World Rowing Championships.

Delegates voted by 21 votes to 10 to appoint Poznan Poland over Ravenna, Italy.
In total, 43 member federations are eligible to be part of the European Rowing Championships.

The decision to re-establish a European Rowing Championship was made earlier this year during a meeting in Munich, Germany at which 28 European Federations took part on invitation from FISA.

The last European Rowing Championships took place in 1973 and were open to all FISA members. These championships will be open only to European National Rowing Federations that are members of FISA plus Israel.
The event will feature the 14 Olympic boat classes racing over 2’000 metres and will be governed by the European Rowing Management Board which was established during the Munich meeting in May, and consists of three members elected by the national federations and three members appointed by FISA.
