European Rowing strongly condemns the military invasion of Ukraine and the ensuing violation of the Olympic Truce by the Russian state. We stand in solidarity with the Ukrainian people, in particular the Ukrainian rowing family, during this international crisis. The European Rowing Board has written to the Ukrainian Rowing Federation on behalf of the European Rowing family, to express our concern for their safety and the safety of their athletes, athlete entourage, officials and families, and our utter abhorrence of this violation of their country.

European Rowing strongly supports the recommendations of the International Olympic Committee published on 28 February 2022 and, in line with World Rowing’s statement, European Rowing will not permit the participation of Russian and Belarusian athletes and officials in its competitions until further notice.

European Rowing Championships have been attributed to Russia and Belarus for 2023 and 2024. The ERB have notified the relevant federations and organising committees that all communications in relation to the organisation of these events are temporarily suspended and the event attributions will be kept under review whilst this conflict continues. Further information will be published in due course.
