World Rowing is continuing its series of webinars to promote safeguarding efforts.

The first of two webinars took place last Monday. Entitled “Athlete Rights and Responsibilities with respect to Safeguarding: what you need to know”, it had active participation from attendees, coming from over 30 different nations. With guest speaker Yetsa Tuakli-Wosornu, a sports equity researcher, the discussions included how to empower athletes to be aware of their rights and their responsibilities in helping to create a safe sport environment, with the aim of giving athletes the confidence to act and contribute to making sport a safer place.

The second of these webinars on safeguarding, held by World Rowing and the World Rowing Athletes Commission, is being held Monday, 14 March, at 13:30 CET. The focus of this second webinar will be “Putting athletes’ rights and responsibilities into action – a toolkit for athletes”.

The guest speaker for this session will be Johan Flodin, former head coach of the Norwegian rowing team. He will share his approach to inspiring a safer sport environment, and be joined by Olaf Tufte, winner of the Thomas Keller medal 2021, Lenka Dienstbach-Wech, former Chair of the World Rowing Athletes Commission and many others. Frida Svensson, current Chair of the Athletes Commission will moderate the webinar.
