World Rowing Masters Commission recently concluded their pre-event site visit to Roodeplat Dam the venue of the 2023 World Rowing Masters Regatta in Tshwane, South Africa.

The inspection visit led by Ron Chen (Chair of the World Rowing Masters Commission) reviewed all the aspects of participant experience – right from their arrival in Johannesburg Airport, the key regatta and competition facilities, lodging and boarding options and the plan of the social events and ceremonies.

In a unique plan, the Organising committee (OC) is offering participating rowers the option of glamping (glamorous camping) at the regatta venue site, in what promises to be a mesmerizing hospitality experience under a starlit African Sky. The glampers will be entertained by social events every evening and will be meters away from the pontoons which will bring them onto the regatta course, dubbed as the home of South African rowing. Participants will also have the option to choose from a variety of hotels in the vicinity of Roodeplaat which will be served by official organising committee shuttle buses.

Aside from the promise of a fantastic stay and excellent competition facilities, the OC through the network of official tourist agencies is offering a wide variety of day trips to exotic destinations within the area. More information at: https://wrmr2023.africa/Online-Bookings/Day-Trips

Ron Chen said: “The Organising Committee should be credited for not only a very productive meeting but also one of the most sincere and appreciated expressions of the South African hospitality. I have great expectations for a wildly successful regatta. I cannot wait to go back in September for what is promising to be a special event”.

The entries for the event are open and can be made through the link: Entry System. The early bird entries offer a 20% discount on entry fees and can be made until 30 April, while the final entry deadline is August 2, 2023. Multiple boat and oar rental options have been planned to ensure the participants get to race in high quality boats even if they are far away from their home territories.
