European Rowing officially opened today its new European Development Centre in Hamburg, Germany. With this step, the European Rowing Confederation is taking an important step in driving the further development of the sport across the continent.

The Development Centre will serve as a central platform for funding, development, and networking. Its aim is to sustainably strengthen the performance of European Rowing and to further enhance cooperation between the national federations.

“With the Development Centre, we are creating a structured foundation for the continued development of rowing in Europe,” said Asunción Loriente, President of European Rowing. “Our ambition is to further raise the quality of funding, training, and organisation at all levels.”

The Centre is closely aligned with the strategic direction of World Rowing and serves as an operational platform for the implementation of key development programmes in Europe.

Key areas of focus include:

  • Education and continuing professional development of coaches
  • Promotion of youth and high-performance structures
  • Support for national federations and clubs
  • Networking of clubs, experts and officials

With the establishment of the Development Centre, European Rowing underlines its commitment to actively shaping and sustainably securing the development of rowing in Europe.
