BR EMR 2025 NEJC VSE-23

Every September, the World Rowing Masters Regatta brings together thousands of rowers who share one thing in common—a lifelong passion for the sport. In 2026, that journey leads to one of rowing’s most iconic destinations.

From 9–13 September 2026, Bled, Slovenia, will welcome the global Masters rowing community for five days of racing, friendship and unforgettable experiences on and around one of the world’s most beautiful rowing venues. Whether you are planning your first Masters Regatta or returning to Bled, here’s everything you need to know before you arrive.

Nestled in the Julian Alps, a Venue Where Rowing Meets Nature

There are few places where sport and scenery come together as perfectly as they do in Bled. Surrounded by the Julian Alps, the emerald-green lake is home to the famous island church, a medieval castle overlooking the water and a rowing course that has earned an outstanding reputation worldwide.

For more than seven decades, Bled has been synonymous with international rowing. The venue has hosted World Rowing Championships, European Championships and World Rowing Cups and World Rowing Masters Regatta in 2017, making it one of the sport’s most recognised rowing destinations.

Yet what makes Bled truly special extends beyond the finish line. Everything is close at hand—from cafés and restaurants to lakeside walking paths, making it easy to relax, meet fellow competitors and enjoy the unique atmosphere throughout the week.

More than a Regatta | Meet Up With Your International Rowing Family

The World Rowing Masters Regatta is much more than a sporting event. It is an annual reunion of the international rowing family.

Throughout the week, thousands of athletes from many countries around the world come together not only to race, but also to reconnect with old friends, meet new crews and celebrate a shared passion for rowing that spans generations. Whether you are competing for a medal or simply enjoying another opportunity to race, the spirit of the Masters community is what makes this event so unique.

Easy to Reach, Enchanting to Explore

Although Bled feels peaceful and surrounded by nature, it is remarkably easy to reach. The destination is accessible from several international airports, including Ljubljana, Venice, Trieste, Zagreb, Graz, Vienna and Munich, with official airport transfer services available throughout the event.

Once in Bled, competitors are encouraged to use the official shuttle service, which will connect hotels, the Park & Ride area and the regatta venue throughout the week. As parking near the rowing center is not allowed, the shuttle provides the most convenient way to travel between key locations. (More about transportation is available at https://wrmr2026.com/venue/#shuttle)

Accommodation options range from lakeside hotels and boutique guesthouses to apartments and campsites, offering something for every type of traveler. (more about accommodation is available at https://wrmr2026.com/accommodation/)

Experience the Social Side of Masters Rowing

While racing remains at the heart of the week, the social programme is an equally important part of the Masters experience.

The festivities begin on Wednesday, 9 September, with the Opening Ceremony, celebrating the official start of the regatta. On Thursday 10 September and Friday 11 September, participants will have the opportunity to attend the Royal Reception at Bled Castle. Set high above the lake, the evening combines Slovenian hospitality, local cuisine and exceptional views in one of the country’s most spectacular historic settings. As capacity is limited, advance booking is recommended.

Also on Friday evening, guests can enjoy Legends Who Give Back – An Evening with Eric Murray and Iztok Čop. During an intimate dinner, the two Thomas Keller Medal recipients will share stories from their remarkable careers and discuss how they continue to inspire and support rowing long after elite competition.

The celebrations conclude on Saturday, 12 September, with the Closing Celebration at the Boathouse Area, where competitors, supporters and volunteers come together to celebrate another successful World Rowing Masters Regatta.

Tickets and further details about all social events are available at www.wrmr2026.com/social-programme.

Make the Most of your Stay

For many visitors, the regatta is only the beginning.

Take a traditional pletna boat across the lake to the island, climb to Bled Castle for panoramic views, sample the famous Bled Cream Cake or simply enjoy an evening walk along the lakeshore after racing.

Beyond Bled, Slovenia offers countless opportunities for exploration. Within an hour’s drive, visitors can discover Ljubljana, Lake Bohinj, Vintgar Gorge, Triglav National Park and the alpine resort of Kranjska Gora. Thanks to the country’s compact size, many competitors choose to extend their stay and experience even more of Slovenia before returning home.

We Look Forward to Welcoming you

The World Rowing Masters Regatta is a celebration of lifelong participation in rowing, bringing together athletes who continue to challenge themselves, support one another and inspire future generations.

This September, that celebration takes place in one of the sport’s most iconic destinations.

We look forward to welcoming the global Masters rowing community to Bled, Slovenia, from 9–13 September 2026.
