New World Rowing Masters Club Trophies to Debut in Bled as Entry Deadline Nears

New trophies and a revised points system will celebrate the clubs at the heart of rowing as registrations close this Friday for the 2026 World Rowing Masters Regatta.

World Rowing is proud to introduce the new World Rowing Masters Club Trophies, which will be awarded for the first time at the 2026 World Rowing Masters Regatta. Presented to the most successful men’s club, women’s club and overall club across the regatta, the redesigned trophies recognise the clubs whose athletes demonstrate outstanding performances while embodying the spirit, community and lifelong passion that define Masters rowing.

Celebrating the Clubs that Keep Rowing Strong

From the earliest rowing clubs established on England’s River Thames more than two centuries ago to the thousands of clubs that exist today, rowing has always been built on community.

Clubs are where athletes first discover the sport, where lifelong friendships are formed, and where generations pass on traditions, knowledge and a shared love of rowing. They are also where the teamwork, trust and commitment required to succeed on the water are developed long before athletes reach the start line.

Masters rowers play an especially important role in sustaining these communities. They volunteer, mentor younger athletes, organise regattas, preserve club traditions and help ensure rowing remains accessible to future generations.

The World Rowing Masters Club Trophies honour that contribution. More than an award for results alone, they recognise the clubs that continue to strengthen and grow rowing around the world.

Only club crews are eligible to earn Club Trophy points. To qualify, all rowers in a crew (excluding the coxswain) must represent the same club, recognised by a World Rowing-affiliated national federation. Composite crews remain fully eligible to race for medals but do not contribute points towards the Club Trophy standings.

The Overall Club Trophy also continues to reward balanced participation, with points from one gender capped at no more than twice those earned by the other, encouraging clubs to field both men’s and women’s crews.

The 2026 World Rowing Masters Championships will once again bring together one of the largest international rowing communities, with competitors ranging from recent graduates of elite competition to lifelong rowers continuing to enjoy the sport decades after their first stroke.

Whether chasing medals, reconnecting with teammates, or representing club pride on one of rowing’s most iconic lakes, Bled promises another unforgettable celebration of Masters rowing.

Entries for the regatta close on 31 July 2026, while entries for mixed events remain open until 11 September 2026 at 15:00 (local time).
