American Christine Cavallo has been elected coastal representative to the World Rowing Athletes’ Commission. The vote took place during the 2026 World Rowing Beach Sprint Finals in Qingdao, China, which wrapped up yesterday on the Yellow Sea along China’s Golden Beach.

A ten-time national team competitor for US Rowing, Cavallo first competed internationally at the 2012 World Rowing Junior Championships and made her first foray into international Beach Sprints in 2021, when she won bronze in the coxed quadruple sculls at that year’s World Rowing Beach Sprint Finals. In flatwater rowing, Cavallo also finished fourth in the lightweight quadruple sculls at the 2018 World Rowing Championships.

Cavallo adds to a strong group of athlete voices within World Rowing, joining Benjamin Pritchard (Great Britain), Valent Sinkovic (Croatia), Logan Ullrich (New Zealand) and Martin Mackovic (Serbia), with these four flatwater rowers elected by their fellow athletes to the World Rowing Athletes’ Commission during the 2026 World Rowing Championships this past August in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

These elected representatives bring a wealth of experience across Olympic, World Championship and Para Rowing competition to the Commission, which represents athletes in World Rowing’s governance and decision-making structures.

Cavallo joins the other new Athletes’ Commission representatives at an important junction for the sport, as World Rowing prepares for a new Olympic cycle and continues to develop its event programme, athlete pathways, and global competition calendar.

In November, the World Rowing Council will appoint five of the flatwater and coastal candidates to the Athletes’ Committee.
